A Newark-bound United Airlines flight had to turn back to Fort Lauderdale, Florida shortly after takeoff following a loss of pressure in the cabin, officials said.
The Boeing 737-900 made it back to Fort Lauderdale before 7 a.m. and all passengers safely got off the plane, United said in a statement. The flight was only in the air for a few minutes when pilots discovered the problem, according to FlightAlerts. There were 179 passengers and six crew members aboard.
A different aircraft is now scheduled to depart at 2 p.m. and touch down in New Jersey at 4:43 p.m.
Passengers will be compensated for the wait, according to the airline.
